I wonder if the French are going to be girly men on this one, or are they really going to step up to the plate this time.

Time to stock up on food, ammo, water, fuel, candles...

Starting a war with Iran would be even more idiotic than the Iraq war is, I doubt many nations would do something that stupid, even considering they would probably be handsomely paid again to do so.

That, and Europe has actual diplomatic ties with Iran so they wouldn't blindly get into wars with nations they have working relationships with. To them, Iran is not as much of a "great satan" as it is in our local political sphere, and they're not obligated by their political realities to protect Israeli interests ahead of their own like we are.

Not to mention the ridiculousness of trying to contain a mountainous country of over a hundred million people that's got very long borders near two other nations we've invaded. It would be impossible to handle, and could threaten our attempts to control/steal the resources from the other two locations we're working on.

Hey, Girlynoid ! :)
To enlighten yourself about the girlies and the boys you might want to read the following article : http://franceatwar.hautetfort.com/archive/2007/03/05/the-french-iron-will.html

Well, of course, it's a bit long and it's about history (and it's probably biased as well but in an irresistibly humourous way). So if your head threatens to ache too much here is a small excerpt for you :

Quote:
There are many reasons why the Americans are being humiliated in Iraq. One of them is that they convinced themselves against all reason that they had an iron will, an everlasting desire to win, an undisputed military superiority and that nobody could defeat them.

Will? Iron will? Desire to win? When all you have to do when you are humiliated is to take a boat, come back home far away, where nobody can reach you? And then pretend it wasn't surrendering? What a joke!

This kind of rationalization has led the Americans to grossly overestimate their History, their military power and their troops. They heard so often that their Army was the best in the world, they saw so many movies and TV shows on their invincibility, they heard so many delusional speeches about the American Empire standing tall above the others – that they finally came to believe it. They finally believed that they were an unvanquished country which knew how to fight better than any other.

But the truth is that they are not unvanquished and that they don't know how to fight. They don't know how to fight because they never had a Prussian knife on their throat nor an oversized Fleet to defeat in Beachy Head. They never had to deploy the kind of courage, bravery, gallantry needed to fight in a win-or-die combat against overwhelming enemies, as in Denain, Poitiers, Lépante, Ascalon, Orléans or Barfleur. Their military prowesses have always relied on being a distant continent and crushing the enemy under the fire of industry. And that's what the Americans are the only ones to believe they have the best army in the world and never surrendered. That's why they cannot cope with the truth: they are being ridiculed in Iraq.

And that's why they lie about the French Army – in order to feel better, because the entire world knows now that the best army in the world was a paper tiger, that the boys are grossly incompetent soldiers, that the GIs don't fight on the ground man against man, and that the American people beg for immediate peace as soon as they begin to lose.

Oh and by the way, Paranoid, you should wake up and realize that some of the opponents to a strike against Iran are US military officials themselves. Girlies probably, now are they? :)
