Considering how much money is lost each time a race is organized, I think this is a bad idea. All losses are paid by the (Belgian/Wallon) government, and thus the taxpayers. For each Euro the local business earns, probably two have to be paid by the rest of us and lost in the pockets of a few playboys. Pure Madness.
F1 is just organized theft by Bernie, Alonso and others. Alonso for example earns 25 million Euro per year. With that kind of salary you can pay about 300 (!) highly educated researchers and engineers to develop new innovative products. And don't get me started on the "so called research" that is being done in F1. It is mostly useless as regulations try to minimize the impact of the technological advancements. I don't want to spoil the pleasure people derive from ultra fast sportscars, but we are paying an extremely high price for that short lasting pleasure. In short, there are far better ways to stimulate the local economy of Spa. Leave F1 to people who have money to waste, not a region like Wallonie which already has incredibly high debts.
Maybe if enough people realize this, Bernie will stop with his ridiculous expensive demands and make F1 a bit more accessible to "normal" people.
