Well, I don't know if Obama will reallt ever involve "touch" in his love message for Israel, it simply wouldn't be professional ;)

But seriously, it's political suicide to actually do the right thing(TM) by pushing for serious and more even-handed peace initiatives - equal partners rather than strong-arming games and behind the back illegal settlement expansions etc.

It's easier to reap the political rewards like the rest of the politicians and just let the Israelis and Arabs suffer because of the active and vocal involvment of their (too) conservative elements of their societies - and ours.

Vast majority of Israelis would consider it terrorisem.

Actually interestingly enough shin-bet has a 'Jewish' department which deals with Jewish terrorisem which is parallel to the 'Arab' department.

Off course there are religious fanatical elements with equivalent values on both sides, they are just less prevailing and outlawed by anti-terrorism laws in Israel, while on the Palestinian side... they are running the government.

that is good to know, one could only wish that the "law" would be applied equally to everyone
e.g. maybe they IDF should start shooting settlers and other israeli fanatics, knock down their houses, and so on and so forth... (maybe the IDF should start shooting the IDF?)

absolutely there are fanatics on both sides, and that is a huge part of the problem
as a matter of fact one could argue that the israeli government and the IDF are terrorists, murdering children, displacing people, occupying land, exercising (almost) absolute control over millions of people

anyway, this is along discussion... my opinion is that the best solution is equality for all (both israeli and palestinians), one person, one vote, and punishment of criminals on both sides...
